SUNDAY 25th April 2010

Trebah Garden would like to invite the Healey Drivers Club, Cornwall & Devon Section to participate in an open day for all club members and

their cars, as part of the ‘National Drive It’ day celebrations.

Trebah Garden was once the home of Sir Donald Healey and family.

Meeting at 12pm at Trebah Garden.

12.30pm – a pasty lunch at the award-winning Planters Café at Trebah.

1.30pm –  a short welcome by Nigel Burnett, Director of Trebah and introduction by Bic Healey.

From 2pm - free entry to the gardens and an opportunity to see the recently dedicated Healey Boathouse on the beach.

RSVP by 14th April 2010

Dear Members

We have been invited and are planning a run to Trebah Gardens, on the Helford River near Mawnan Smith, Cornwall. This will take place on Sunday 25th April and that date coincides with the FBHVC National Drive-it Day, so two good reasons to go!

Trebah are offering us entry and a pasty or (vegetarian) quiche or similar lunch, and a cuppa,  for no charge.  Following lunch we will be welcomed by the Director of the Trust that runs Trebah and Bic has kindly offered to respond. We will then be free to roam the extensive and very interesting gardens. Many of you will know of the involvement of Donald Healey with Trebah and when he owned it he built the boathouse, recently re-commissioned, and also Healeys Hill, which he constructed from concrete blocks from the beach.

Trebah is one of the greatest Cornish gardens originally created and laid out in the Victorian era, inspired by the wish of landowners of the time to beautify the landscape.

It is very kind of the Trebah people to invite us and I do not wish to let them down. So I would like you all to consider this a maximum effort and I need to know names as soon as possible please.

So, Trebah Gardens (grid ref  SW 0769 0275), Sunday 25th April, arrive 1200, free entry and lunch, tour the gardens. Other clubs are keen to join us on this one but first call must go to HDC members so I look forward to hearing from you very soon.

Best regards

Launch of the UK Registered Mk1 Sprite Photographic Database
The database  is designed to be a free reference point for ex-owners who wish to know if their old Frogeye still exists as well as for new owners wishing to fill in gaps in their cars history. We have already had some success in putting the ex-owner of a Frogeye (who sold it 30 years ago) in contact with its current keeper and he was able to supply a lot of the previous history much to the delight of both of them. We've also in the last couple of weeks been able to provide the (well known) owner of a Mk1 Sprite with the information that his car was used by Williams and Pritchard early in the companies history. He was unaware of this as was the Williams & Pritchard register who had no knowledge of the survival of such an important Sprite.

I must emphasize that this is not a commercial venture, just an extension of my hobby.

The web site with the first 600 (or so) cars can be seen here www.frogeye.fotopic.net  and there about another 400 cars still to go on.

The database would welcome any additional images of Mk1 Sprites not already listed  from members of the Healey Drivers Club

Healey's head for the salt flats of Bonneville

Steve Pike says "we packed the cars for Bonneville on Wednesday [29th July], its been a big task over the past few weeks to get them finished. Nutting out all the supercharger fitting and getting them engineered to be able to meet the safety requirements of today.  Anyhow we are on the way ,it will be quite a task to get to 200mph."

Hi
I am trying to find anyone in your area who may remember my BN4 100/6
which was first registered in Devon in 1957.
The registration number is XTT696 and it was painted Colorado red and
black.
Perhaps someone can lighten my darkness!
Thanks
